Abstract

This report was concerned with the isolation and indentification of the oral microbial flora and the amylase activity of the isolated species. The amylase activity was determined by a modification of the method of Bernfeld for a assay of amylase with dinitrosalicylic acid reagent, performing the enzymatic digestions at 37¡É instead 20¡É.
The results were as follows ;
1) The microbial flora, isolated from the oral cavity, were identified as Nesseria sica, Neisseria catarlalis, Diptheroid, Streptococcus salivarius, Streptococcus viridans, Staphylococcus albus, candida albicans, and Gram-positive bacillus.
2) Among the isolated species, the amylase of Streptococcus salivarius was exhibited the highest activity, while that of Neisseria catarhalis was exhibited the lowest activity.
